Why do I need a Skip
Permit?

Under the Highways Act 1980: section 139 road traffic
regulations act, 1984 all skips
which are placed on land which is not privately owned require a skip permit.

What are the requirements?

Skips placed on the road will require

• traffic cones
• night-time safety lamps
• the name and telephone number of the skip hire company

• reflective markings

Who arranges the permits?

We do! All you have to do is give us the required notice and we will do
the rest.

What is the required notice?

48 hours. The council requires this time to check the area where the skip
will be placed and ensure it will not affect traffic flow or cause any
nuisance.

How much do skip permits cost?

Our prices are set at £45. This includes the skip permit, lights, cones,
and insurance we take out to enable us to put skips on the road.

How long do permits last?

This depends on the area where the skip is going and the type of road.
If it’s a busy road then the permit may only last a day , if it’s a quiet road
then up to 28 days. Give us a ring and we can advise you better.
